What is a Teaching Demonstration?

A teaching demonstration is an example of a real or simulated classroom lesson. It shows how everything you have learned in this course comes together in practice.

What a teaching demonstration shows

  • How a lesson is structured from start to finish
  • How a teacher introduces and explains new language
  • How a teacher interacts with students
  • How activities are set up and managed

Why teaching demonstrations matter

Watching and studying demonstrations helps you understand how teaching theory works in a real classroom. Reading about the ESA framework is one thing — seeing it in action is another.

In this module, you will study two full example lessons, learn how to give clear instructions, and prepare your own demonstration — the final step before you start teaching.

Your first teaching demonstration does not need to be perfect. It needs to be clear, purposeful, and student-centered. Every great teacher started exactly where you are now.
