Responding to a Suspected Break-In

If something about the home looks wrong when you arrive — a broken window, a door left open, or a room that looks disturbed — treat it as a possible break-in.

What to Do

  • Do not go inside
  • Move to a safe location away from the home
  • Call the police first, then contact the client
  • Wait for authorities to confirm it's safe before entering, even if you're worried about the pet

A pet inside is almost always safer than you assume — walking into an active break-in helps no one.
