Types of Pet Sitting Services

Not all pet sitting jobs look the same, and knowing the differences helps you set the right expectations with clients from the start.

Common Types of Pet Sitting

  • — short visits (typically 15–60 minutes) for feeding, a bathroom break, and a quick check-in, usually once or twice a day
  • — a drop-in visit that includes a walk, often booked alongside feeding
  • — you stay in the client's home overnight, providing continuous care during the hours they're most likely to need it
  • — you stay in the client's home for the full length of their trip, covering all feeding, walking, and care needs

Each type comes with a different level of responsibility and a different rate. Being clear with clients about exactly what a booking includes prevents misunderstandings before they happen.
