Poisoning
Poisoning symptoms vary widely depending on what was ingested, from vomiting and drooling to tremors and seizures.
✓How to Respond
- Move the animal away from the suspected toxin source
- Identify what was ingested if possible, and keep the packaging, plant, or substance to show the vet
- Do not induce vomiting or give any home remedy unless specifically instructed by a veterinarian or animal poison control
- Call an animal poison control hotline or your veterinarian immediately and follow their specific instructions

- Chocolate
- Xylitol, found in sugar-free gum and candy
- Grapes and raisins
- Onions and garlic
- Certain houseplants, especially lilies, which are highly dangerous to cats
- Human medications
