Types of Spirits

Spirits are the foundation of almost every cocktail. A spirit is a distilled alcoholic beverage with a high alcohol content, usually around 40% ABV (alcohol by volume). There are six base spirits every bartender needs to know.

Vodka's neutral flavor makes it the most versatile spirit — it mixes well with almost anything. That is why it appears in so many popular cocktails.
