Pets with ongoing health conditions often need more than a single daily pill — they may need monitoring, multiple medications, or a specific routine tied to their condition.

- Get the full medication list in writing, including dosage, timing, and how each medication should be given (with food, on an empty stomach, etc.)
- Track what's been given each visit, especially if multiple medications are involved
- Watch for and log any changes — appetite, energy, water intake, or bathroom habits — since these are the metrics owners of chronically ill pets watch closely
- Contact the client or vet promptly if a dose is missed or a symptom changes, rather than waiting until the next visit
