Common Documents

Notaries work with many types of documents — but remember, the notary verifies the process, not the content.

Common documents notaries handle:

  • Contracts
  • Affidavits
  • Authorization and consent forms
  • Powers of attorney
  • Business agreements
  • Real estate documents (deeds, mortgages)

What the notary DOES verify:

  • The identity of the signer
  • That the signing process was done properly

What the notary does NOT do:

  • Confirm whether the document's contents are true
  • Provide legal advice
  • Judge or approve the content

No matter how important or complex the document, the notary's job stays the same — verify who signed and how, not whether the document is true or fair.
