What a Professional Makeup Artist Does

A professional makeup artist works across a range of settings — freelance bridal and event work, editorial and photography shoots, and salon or spa employment. Each path calls for a different skill set and business approach, but all of them start with the same foundation: understanding skin, color, hygiene, and how to work professionally with clients.

This course focuses on that foundation — the theory, hygiene standards, client communication, and business practices every makeup artist needs. It does not replace hands-on practice. Building real technique takes repetition: practicing on friends, family, or paid models, ideally with feedback from an experienced artist.

Whichever path you choose, the fundamentals in this course apply. A wedding morning, a magazine shoot, and a walk-in salon client all call for the same underlying professionalism.
