What is TESOL?

TESOL stands for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. It refers to the practice of teaching English to people whose first language is not English.

English is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. People learn English for work, travel, education, and international communication — and that means English teachers are needed everywhere.

As a TESOL teacher, your job is simple: help people communicate in English. You are not just teaching grammar rules. You are giving people a skill they will use for the rest of their lives.

Think about it: Every student who walks into your classroom has a reason for learning English. Your job is to help them get there.
