When to Start CPR

Only perform CPR if the animal is unresponsive, not breathing, and has no detectable heartbeat or pulse.

Confirm unresponsiveness first by gently tapping the animal and calling its name. CPR is physically demanding and should only begin once you've confirmed there truly is no breathing and no pulse.
