Understanding Skin Types and Conditions

Every face you work on is different, and recognizing what you're working with shapes every product decision that follows.

Common Skin Types

  • Oily — shine throughout the day, larger-looking pores
  • Dry — flaking, tightness, or rough texture
  • Combination — oily in the T-zone, drier elsewhere
  • Sensitive — prone to redness or reacting to new products

Visible Conditions to Be Aware Of

  • Acne or active breakouts
  • Rosacea (persistent redness, visible blood vessels)
  • Eczema or other visibly irritated patches

Your job is to recognize these conditions and adjust your product choices and technique accordingly — not to diagnose or treat them. If a client asks about a skin condition directly, recommend they see a dermatologist.
