Reading Fatigue and Overheating Signs During the Walk

Dogs can't tell you when they've had enough, so it's your job to notice.

Signs to Watch For

  • Heavy or excessive panting
  • Lagging behind or slowing down noticeably
  • Bright red gums, drooling, or stumbling, which can signal heatstroke and require immediate action

If you notice these signs, shorten the walk, move to shade, offer water, and head back at a calm pace. Severe symptoms should be treated as an emergency.
